Tensioning Tool
Objective:
Design a tool to tension the motor chain. The chain is tightened through holes in the puck making the differential move forward or backward which either tightens or loosens the chain. The tool shall be made with steel. A bodyweight load should be applied to the handle to simulate real-world force. The tool should also contain a bottle opener at the end.
Process:
Reference holes from the puck in which the tool with be fastedned with for adjustment. Made a long enough tool to get more torque making it easier to adjust the chain. Began by making a wrench-like tool where I then ran topology to get insight on where to reduce mass. I realized that little stresses where the tool would be fixtured so I removed the material there.
Results:
A tensioning tool with specified tolerances to attach to the puck. Achieved a deformation of 0.01 inches and a factor of safety of 5.2.
